EXPANDED PRODUCTION PORTFOLIO AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS

Official opening of the new KraussMaffei production plant in Martin (Slovakia)

Munich, October 12, 2010 – KraussMaffei AG today officially opened its new production plant in Martin (Slovakia). The plant represents a significant investment in expanding the company’s business in Eastern Europe. Production capacity for switch cabinets has been doubled. The new plant will also assemble AX series injection molding machines and produce parts for plastics processing machinery.

 

More capacity and competence for switch cabinets

“This expansion of our production portfolio represents a strategic investment in strengthening our presence in Eastern Europe, where we’re expecting strong growth in the next few years,” explained Dr. Dietmar Straub, CEO of the KraussMaffei group, speaking to guests and employees gathered for the official opening ceremony. Apart from doubling capacity for building switch cabinets, the production area of 6,600 m² will also be allocated to NC and CNC production of tooling parts for plastics machinery and to assembling AX series injection molding machines up to 350 t. The plant currently employs 120 people. “We’ve had a growing presence in Martin since 2005. In expanding our production portfolio here, we’re opening up efficiency potential in response to increasing demand from Eastern Europe. At the same time, in our Munich  plant, we’re concentrating on our core competence in building high-end plastics processing machinery,” emphasized Straub. The new plant has enabled KraussMaffei to streamline internal processes and to improve working conditions for employees in Martin.
