Outokumpu launches a new duplex stainless steel grade featuring a higher mechanical strength than major duplex grades on the market. The new grade, Outokumpu LDX 2404®, enables thinner gauges to be employed in a variety of applications, yielding considerable material savings. The excellent resistance to corrosion brings high durability and long service life.
The new grade is suitable for all uses of stainless steel where the high mechanical properties and good corrosion resistance can be utilised - in storage tanks, road and rail tankers, building and construction as well as in several industrial processes. Weight reduction and lighter designs translate to cost-efficient projects with less material, and savings in transport and maintenance costs as well as lower energy consumption.
"I'm very pleased that we now have a full palette of duplex stainless steels to offer. This enables us to make tailor-made duplex solutions to fulfil our customer needs with the most optimal products. I strongly believe that customers seeking alternative stainless steel grades find our product offering very interesting", says Jan Engfeldt, Commercial Manager in Outokumpu.
Increasing sales of special grades and products is in the core of Outokumpu's strategy. Special grades offer high growth potential and provide significant value for customers. Outokumpu is the market leader in duplex grades with a global market share of some 50 percent.
