Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh, reaches Pune, today on a two day visit. Lt Gen AK
Singh, GOC-in-C, Southern Command briefed the Army Chief on the state of
operational preparedness of the Southern Army. Gen Bikram Singh also interacted
with senior functionaries of Southern Command and addressed the officers of the
station on the contemporary challenges facing the Army, the collective efforts
required in overcoming these and requirement of maintaining the highest
standards of operational preparedness and discipline. He also emphasised on
value based leadership, reiterating the Indian Army’s ethos of commitment and
professionalism. In a first of its kind, approx 3000 officers in 24 stations of
the Command were also able to view Army Chief address through a real time video
link. In his interaction with ex-servicemen later, the Army Chief assured them
of concerted effort towards amelioration of their problems during this ‘Year
of Veterans’.
President AWWA Mrs Bubbles Singh, who is accompanying the Army Chief on the
visit interacted with the Veer Naries and families residing in the station.
Gen Singh will be visiting the National Defence Academy tomorrow. He thereafter
proceeds to Bhopal where he will review the operational preparedness of the
Sudarshan Chakra Corps and address all Army Officers of Bhopal Military
Station. The Army Chief will also call upon the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, HE
Shri Ram Naresh Yadav.
