Ready for market: Generation 6 - Zero Gap - ThyssenKrupp Uhde presents a new generation of its single-element electrolysis cell

ThyssenKrupp Uhde presents the new generation of its single-element electrolysis cell at the Achema in Frankfurt. The new Generation 6 represents a consistent advancement in ThyssenKrupp Uhde's Generation 4 and 5 electrolysis cells. The advantages that the new developments bring to the customers are obvious. There are good reasons to choose ThyssenKrupp Uhde technology: improved energy consumption and increased active membrane area, while keeping the Uhde single-element technology. These improvements have been facilitated by using an elastic element which enables the entire active area of the membrane to be positioned between the electrodes without any gaps. This development ensures that uniform pressure is transferred across the entire area of the membrane. Zero Gap is achieved across every square centimetre without compromising the proven advantages of the Uhde single-element design.

"Working with our partner UHDENORA we have succeeding in expanding our technological competence by combining innovative and traditional elements of our electrolysis technology. The new Generation 6 will improve the operating efficiency of electrolysis plants for our customers in the future", said Dr Sami Pelkonen, Head of the electrolysis division at ThyssenKrupp Uhde.

ThyssenKrupp Uhde gave its first presentation of the new Generation 6 of its electrolysis cells at a conference in Zurich on 13 June 2012 in front of a selected audience of industry specialists. The general public will then have the opportunity to find out more about the innovation and to talk to the experts at Achema in Frankfurt from 18 to 22 June 2012.
