Announces Three UK Customer Deployment of Ortiva Wireless IVOG
Platform
Enhances Customers’ Video
Experience While Increasing Network Capacity
Hod Hasharon, Israel, June
4, 2012— Allot
Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALLT), a leading provider of service optimization and revenue
generation solutions for fixed and mobile data networks worldwide, today
announced that Three
UK has deployed Ortiva Wireless’ unique iVOG (internet
Video Optimization Gateway) platform to help optimize Three UK network costs and
provide the necessary level of quality for subscribers. By reducing the stalls, or buffering, that
can be encountered by people watching video over mobile networks, Three UK’s
customers will receive a superior video experience.
Mobile video use continues to grow at a rapid rate, especially for
mobile carriers that have to manage the bandwidth-intensive traffic. As more consumers and businesses rely on data
cards, tablets, and high-end smartphones, the ability to cost-effectively
deliver high-quality mobile video services is high on the list of challenges
confronting mobile carriers worldwide.
According to Allot MobileTrends Reports H2/21022, video now
represents over 40 percent of the total traffic on mobile networks. That number
is expected to continue to rise.
The Ortiva iVOG platform allows service providers to dramatically improve the
quality and efficiency of rich media content delivery by optimizing for
real-time network conditions and for each mobile connection. It improves the
user experience by decreasing stalls, providing the optimal quality of service
through inline transrating based on actual network speeds and content types.
This allows for a more efficient allotment of bandwidth, so customers can watch
more video on their data plans. The
ability to do this without transcoding creates a highly scalable solution.
“Three selected the Ortiva iVOG platform after a detailed RFP, lab
and field trial process,” said Phil Sheppard, Director of Network Strategy at
Three UK. “Ortiva’s scalability advantages allowed the deployment to be paid for
entirely by the savings in network expansion costs, while at the same time
improving the subscriber quality of experience even under challenging network
conditions.”
“The explosion in mobile
video use requires a solution that can quickly solve the issue of broadly
managing video content across entire networks, do it quickly, and at a cost
carriers and infrastructure companies find affordable,” said Rami Hadar, Allot’s
President and CEO. “Ortiva Wireless’
proactive approach to providing a scalable platform is a winning solution for
operators and their customers too.”
