Gamesa takes upon the responsibility to spread awareness on Global Warming
Organizes a public rally in association with NSSU to promote green energy
Chennai, February 15, 2012: As part of its endeavor to create greater awareness about clean and green wind turbine power, Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Limited, today joined hands with the National Service Scheme of University (NSSU) of Madras to organize a public rally in Chennai. The rally was organised on the Marina Beach which started from the Gandhi Statue to culminate at Kannagi Statue on the arterial Kamarajar Salai.
The rally focused on the theme ‘Role of every individual in countering global warming’, was flagged off by Mr. C. Sylendra Babu, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, Chennai, in the presence of Mr. Dr. G. Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras and Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman & Managing Director, Gamesa. The participants were from Gamesa India and NSS volunteers of the University of Madras, carrying educative pamphlets and illustrating ten-ways to promote clean and green power.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman & MD, Gamesa India, said, “Today’s rally demonstrated the solidarity of the employees and their resolve for such a noble and public cause. The aim of the rally is to bring awareness about the environment, the way global warming is taking place, how to control it and use alternatives to reduce the pollution levels and make environment cleaner. Gamesa is one of the pioneers in the field of renewable energy and would strongly be supportive of such initiatives in future.”
Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras, Dr. G. Thiruvasagam, said, “The Madras University along with the NSS is proud to be associated with Gamesa India in an effort to create greater awareness on Global Warming among the masses and the younger generation in particular.
Mr. Sylendra Babu, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, had a word of praise for Gamesa India, the NSS volunteers and the students of the University of Madras for the pro-active approach in highlighting the advantages of having clean and green wind power.
The rally also brought to sharp focus the constructive role played by the corporate sector in association with institution of excellence in promoting wind turbine green power.
