All-India Consumer Price index Numbers for Agricultural and Rural Labourers on Base 1986-87=100 –January, 2012
The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for January, 2012 remained stationary at 618 (Six hundred and eighteen) points for Agricultural Labourers and 619 ( Six hundred and nineteen) points for Rural Labourers.
The rise/fall in index varied from State to State. In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 5 points in 14 States and a decrease between 2 and 12 points in 5 States. It, however, remained stationary in 1 State. Maharashtra with 690 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 514 points stood at the bottom.
In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 5 points in 14 States and a decrease between 1 and 11 points in 6 States. Maharashtra with 683 points topped the index table whereas Tripura with the index level of 534 points stood at the bottom.
The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers in respect of Himachal Pradesh State registered the maximum increase of 5 points each mainly due to increase in the prices of rice, wheat atta, mustard oil and sugar. The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers in respect of West Bengal State registered the highest decrease of 12 and 11 points respectively mainly due to decrease in the prices of rice and vegetables & fruits.
Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL decreased from 6.37% and 6.72% in December,2011 to 4.92% and 5.27% respectively in January, 2012. Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL are 0.33% and 0.50% respectively during January, 2012.
