CRUISE INDUSTRY EXECUTIVE FONS WYNEN RETIRES
Long-time cruise industry Air/Sea executive Fons Wynen retired on Thursday 30th June 2011, from his post as Director of Contracts at ISSGMT after a long and distinguished career.
A native of the Netherlands, the fun-loving and always colourful Wynen looks forward to plenty of travel with his wife, Nancy, as well as a good dose of volunteer work at local schools and libraries.
Wynen started his career in the travel industry back in 1968 at a small Manhattan travel agency. After holding other travel positions at Ask Mr. Foster and Thomas Cook, he joined Gerry Herrod's Ocean Cruise Lines as Director of the Air Department and has been in the cruise/marine industry ever since. He served as Air/Sea Director for Pearl Cruises, Paquet Cruises and Orient Lines.
After Orient was purchased by NCL, Wynen left in 2002 to join Global Marine Travel's start-up team and has been a huge part of the company's growth over the past decade. Global Marine Travel was acquired by Inchcape Shipping Services in May 2010 and was rebranded to ISS GMT. ISSGMT's airline contracts will now be handled by Mark Fabiszewski, who joined ISSGMT from Costa Cruise Lines North America, where he managed the company's air department.
Tim Davey, President of ISSGMT remarked light-heartedly “things will be a lot quieter around the office now that Fons has left. Those who have worked with Fons will understand what I mean.”
ISSGMT is the marine travel division of Inchcape Shipping Services, one of the world's leading maritime services providers
