Center Urges Jharkhand to Ensure Speedy Operationalisation of Coal Blocks

Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Minister of Coal has urged the Jharkhand Government to bring all its allocated coal blocks in operation as early as possible to ensure more availability of coal. During a meeting with the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Arjun Munda here today Shri Jaiswal said that the centre may reconsider the deallocation of two coal blocks to the state in view of special circumstances and reasons explained by the state for the delay.

Shri Arjun Munda along with Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Shri Hement Soren and senior officials, called on the Coal Minister to discuss the issue of availability of coal and status of various coal mining projects in the state.

During the meeting the Chief Minister was urged to provide more security to facilitate night loading of coal on normal working days as in some areas large quantity of pitted coal needs immediate dispatch. It was also pointed out to the state that local forest clearance for some of the projects of the public sector coal companies are pending for a long time and needs to be expedited. The Chief Minister said that the state would look into these issues.
