CA Day Celebration in Diamond Jubilee Year of Eastern India Regional
Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India on July 1, 2011
As you may be kindly aware, the 1st July of every year is celebrated as a CA Day by the members and students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) both at home and abroad.
ICAI is a statutory body set up in 1949 by an Act of Parliament. During its nearly six decades of existence, ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body in the world. The Institute works through 5 Regional Councils & 125 branches across the country. Eastern India Regional Council is one of the five Regional Councils to serve the States of West Bengal, Orissa, Assam and other North Eastern States wih Regional Headquarter at Kolkata. In Eastern Region more than 16,500 Chartered Accountants are on our membership roll and a student strength of nearly 50,000.
This year, however, CA Day is coming to us with a difference. Eastern India Regional Council of the ICAI saw the light of the day on May 14, 1952. We shall celebrate July 1, 2011 in a big way as this is our Diamond Jubilee Year.
To commemorate the day there would take place a number of programmes viz., Flag Hoisting, Blood Donation, Elocution & Quiz Competition for Students and a gala Cultural Evening in which there would be performance by a renowned Band, namely, DHWANI.
However, the most exciting part of all the programmes is the felicitation of the Past Presidents of ICAI from Eastern Region, Past Chairmen of EIRC, past Council Member of ICAI from Eastern Region as also Past Regional Council Members. We are aware that in every present lies the past. The Former Presidents of ICAI from Eastern Region, the Former Chairmen of EIRC, Past Council Members of ICAI from Eastern Region and Past Regional Council Members, had all individually and collectively contributed to the uplift of EIRC – too big a contribution to miss. The felicitation programme is our small way to pay respect to them. The programme will be held at at Eastern Zonal Culturale Centre Auditorium, IB-201, Sector III, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700 106 at 5.30 PM
The felicitation programme is followed by a Cultural Programme which would be performed by a renowned Band, namely, DHWANI at 7.00 PM
