Railway revenue earnings up by 5.28 per cent during the period 11th – 20th May 2009

 
  
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period 11th May – 20th May 2009 were Rs. 2267.43 crore compared to Rs. 2153.79 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.28 per cent. 

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1475.24 crore during 11th May – 20th May 2008 to Rs. 1525.72 crore during 11th May – 20th May 2009, showing an increase of 3.42 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11th to 20th May 2009 were Rs. 661.58 crore compared to Rs. 608.40 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 8.74 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 63.21 crore during this period compared to Rs. 52.22 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 21.05 per cent. 

The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 11th to 20th May 2009 were 205.24 million compared to 190.96 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.48 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 11–20 May 2009 were 105.85 million and 99.39 million compared to 100.79 million and 90.17 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.02 per cent and 10.23 per cent respectively.
