Rural Development Minister calls for ensuring proper utilisation of budget for speedy implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes

Union Rural Development Minister Dr. C.P.Joshi has emphasized the need to ensure proper utilization of budget for speedy implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes. Addressing a two day meeting of the Performance Review Committee (PRC) organised by the Department of Rural Development here today , he called upon the representatives from various States Governments/Union Territory Administrations to formulate a time bound action plan in this regard. 

The two day meeting will discuss in detail the analysis of State wise performance in Financial Year 2008-09 for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) on following parameters: Unmet demand in 2008-09, districts with declining performance, Works related completion rate & wage- material ratio, Notified wages & average wages paid, Wage disbursement through accounts Transparency & accountability, Personnel Recruitment & trainings, State cell , State fund and Status of Complaints forwarded by the Ministry and VIP references, Grievance redressal rules, and MIS operationalization in 2008-09. The provision of additional financial assistance and marketing facilities to rural artisans under Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) and allotment of more dwelling units to rural homeless persons in Indira Aawas Yojana (IAY) for Rural Housing will be discussed. The need to post the entire household data and BPL data on the web site of the ministry by all the States/UTs urgently is high on the agenda. The issue of the training facilities for rural development functionaries, members of Village Monitoring Committee and elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in rural development and the performance under the National Social Assistance Program will also be taken during the meeting.
