Surging Civil-Military interaction to a new high, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, flagged off Siachen Trek Expedition from the Raina Auditorium on 7th Sep 2012. The expedition consists of 22 volunteers from all walks of society, who will trek across the treacherous terrain of Siachen Glacier covering a two way distance of 120 Kms over 08 days up to an altitude of approx 16000ft.

The entire trek will be supervised, by the Army, under expert mountaineers to ensure the guidance and safety of the expeditionaries. “We had seen this terrain only in photos and heard its stories, but thanks to the Army, we have got this once in a life time opportunity to see and experience and explore this wonderful part of our country”, a thrilled member of the expedition said.
A large gathering of civilian and military dignitaries had gathered to see off the expedition. GOC, Fire & Fury Corps said, “While inculcating the spirit of adventure in the members of the trek, the expedition will be a landmark step towards better civil-military interactions and understanding of the difficult terrain and operational conditions being experienced by the brave soldiers on a daily basis. It will provide a wonderful platform for mutual interaction, as well expose the participants to the extreme challenges faced by the army”.
