Satellite Technology to Monitor the Movement of Coal
Coal India Ltd. (CIL) is selling coal on “Free On Rail” (FOR) basis. Transport of coal from the mine face to the point of loading is the responsibility of CIL and thereafter it is the responsibility of the purchaser. It has been decided to set up a monitoring system for movement of coal through Global Positioning System (GPS) in all mines of CIL by 31.12.2011.
This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal, Shri Pratik Prakashbapu Patil in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
