five Tea Gardens in North Bengal –
Investment plans for Rs. 100 crore by next three years
Kolkata, 21st December, 2011 : MARS Group of Companies, the largest importer of Gurjan timber in India and leading producer of plywood and face veneer, has expanded its services by procuring five Tea Gardens in North Bengal. The Tea Gardens which company has acquired are M/S Raimatang Tea Estate , M/S Kalchini Tea Estate of M/S Buxa Dooars Tea Gardens and two more in the same area.
Mr. Roshan Lal Agarwal – Chairman and Managing Director, MARS Group of Companies, said on the achievement of Tea Gardens acquisitions, “Almost last year, MARS Group has committed of obtaining the closed Tea Gardens at North Bengal ( Dooars ). We have not only sorted out and overcome the problems on various issues including many old, Statutory settlements and other associated problems. The entire labour / worker fraternity of these gardens were deep downed into a poverty line and we all have witnessed the acute socio – economic problems in these areas. Restoration of employment to few thousand people is the testimony of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).”
He further added, “The company is planning to invest Rs. 100 Crore for acquiring more tea gardens in the Eastern part of India.”
Mr. Goutam Bhattacharya – President Marketing, MARS Ply, said on this occasion “Nearby hospitals, schools have been re-opened and the local administration at all level have rendered their support and we could very well identify the change in attitude of the new Govt. and the personal involvement of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee in the recent past. There are many more problems to be addressed and we are seeking the assistance from the relevant Labour, Commerce and other Departments of our Govt. for making a complete turn around at an earliest. Currently the company is heading towards its aspiration level and expected to achieve better performances by launching new and innovative products”
