Gaganjeet Bhullar and Vinod Kumar lead their respective teams to victory at the Pro-Am event of the SAIL OPEN 2010
New Delhi, April 3, 2010: The Pro-Am event of the SAIL Open 2010 provided amateur golfers from the capital an opportunity to tee-off along with some of the top professional golfers in Asia.
The Pro-Am was played in the modified scramble format where all players played the second shot from the best tee shot in the group. The best nett score on each hole was to count for the team.
In the morning session, PGTI member Gaganjeet Bhullar led his team to victory with a score of 48. Bhullar’s team comprised of amateurs Mr. Raman Chaddha, Mr. Dinesh Trivedi and Mr. A K Awasthi.
PGTI member Ashok Kumar’s team was second with a score of 50. Ashok’s team comprised of amateurs Mr. J S Naurath, Mr. C S Kahlon and Mr. Milkha Singh.
PGTI member C Muniyappa’s team comprising of amateurs Mr. Virendra Ganda, Ms. Geeta Roy and Ms. Dana Lee finished third. Their team score was 51.
The prize for the longest drive was bagged by Mr. Karan Vasudeva who came up with a 294 yard drive on hole no. 10.
The prizes for the closest shot to the pin on holes no. 5 and 17 were won by Mr. Amit Kumar (three feet eight inches from the pin) and Mr. Gurbaaz Singh (sixth feet from the pin) respectively.
Mr. Dhruv Singh won the contest for the straightest drive on the ninth hole. His drive landed on the centre of the fairway.
In the afternoon session, PGTI member Vinod Kumar led his team to victory with a score of 51 points. Vinod’s team comprised of amateurs Mr. A S Bains, Mr. Vijay Khosla and Mr. Samir Sinha.
SAIL Open winner Richard Karlberg of Sweden helped his team finish second with a score of 52 points. His team comprised of amateurs Mr. C R Bakshi, Mr. Kapil Vasudeva and Mr. Ajay Pratap Singh. They finished second on the basis of a count-back on the back nine.
PGTI member Raju Ali Mollah’s team comprising of amateurs Mr. S S Dhupia, Mr. R S Bedi and Mr. P S Khochar finished third. Their team score was 52.
The prize for the longest drive was bagged by Mr. Bhaskar Acharya who came up with a 350 yard drive on hole no. 10.
The prizes for the closest shot to the pin on holes no. 5 and 17 was won by Mr. Balkar Singh (two and a half inches from the pin) and Mr. Ajay Pratap Singh (six feet from the pin) respectively.
Mr. Mohd. Wasim won the contest for the straightest drive on the ninth hole. His drive was six inches from the centre of the fairway
