|The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal for transfer of 200 square metres of Farakka Barrage Project (FBP) land at Farakka (West Bengal) to the Government of West Bengal, and subsequent handing over to Government of Jharkhand, for construction of Sump House and residential facility at Pakur town to be constructed by the Nagar Panchayat, Pakur.|
This would facilitate taking 13.65 MLD (5.58 cusec) water from Farakka Barrage Canal for drinking water supply to Pakur town of Jharkhand, which is located near the border of West Bengal and is facing acute water crisis.
