Chief of Army Staff, Gen Bikram Singh interacted with a large number of Foreign
Service Attaches on 22 August 2012 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The
interaction with Foreign Service Attaches is an annual event organised to enable
interaction between Indian Army functionaries involved in international
cooperation at various levels and the Foreign Service Attaches in India. The
event assumed special significance since this was first interaction by Army
Chief with Foreign Service Attaches since taking over the command of Indian
Army. There were wide ranging topics of mutual and professional interest between
Indian Army and armies from friendly foreign countries which formed part of
informal interaction. The bonhomie witnessed in the interaction indicated to the
warm relations developed by Indian Army with other friendly armies and which was
further cemented through free and frank exchange of ideas between the Army Chief
and the Foreign Service Attaches.
There has been an exponential increase in the defence cooperation activities in
recent years due to the emerging status of India and the recognition of the
professionalism of the Indian Army. Healthy attendance of Foreign Service
Attaches at the event is indicative of the growing popularity of the Indian Army
amongst the Armies of the World.
