Investment for Raising Capacity of Sail

The Minister of Steel, Shri Beni Prasad Verma has said that the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has undertaken modernisation and expansion at its five integrated steel plants at Bhilai, Bokaro, Rourkela, Durgapur & Burnpur and special steel plant at Salem to enhance its crude steel production capacity from 12.8 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) to 21.4 MTPA in the current phase with indicative investment/ expenditure Rs.61,870 crore. 

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today the Minister said, the plant-wise details of present production capacity and likely enhancement as a result of current modernisation and expansion of five integrated steel plants are given below:
