| Rowghat Project |
| The Minister of Steel, Shri Beni Prasad Verma has said that the work of cutting trees and handing over of the land for initiating mine development work at Rowghat and Dalli-Rajhara – Rowghat Railway line project has been impeded by naxal threat. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today he said, the matter of providing security for Rowghat project was taken up by Secretary (Steel) with the Government of Chhattisgarh (GoC) on 19.9.2011. In response, State Government indicated that the project cannot be started without deployment of a dedicated security force. In view of this, the matter was then taken up with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which in consultation with all stakeholders has decided to enhance the level of security for this project. Shri Verma said, the railway line project is being regularly monitored by a “Joint Working” group comprising representatives of Ministry of Railways and SAIL. The matter has also been discussed in the meetings held in the MHA on 7.3.2012, 7.6.2012 and 2.7.2012. |
