World Bank Funding for Transmission and Distribution Network
The Ministry of Power has submitted a project proposal seeking World Bank assistance of fifteen hundred million US Dollar to improve transmission and distribution network in the states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today, Minister of power Shri Sushilkumar Shinde said that the proposal submitted through the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) was recommended by the DEA to the World Bank in November last year for consideration in three tranches/ phases of five hundred million US Dollar each. The World Bank team has completed its initial visits to these six States in June, 2011.
