He said presently two UMPPs namely Sarguja in Chhattishgarh and Bedabahal in Orissa are in the bidding process. The Minister said that the site for setting up of one UMPP in Tamil Nadu has been finalized at Cheyyur in Kanchipuram district and for the second UMPP in Andhra Pradesh at Nayunipalli village in Prakasham district. The other UMPPs proposed are in Karnataka, Maharashtra, two additional UMPPs in Orissa, one additional UMPP each in Gujarat, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. Shri Venugopal said the initiation of bidding process in these UMPPs is contingent upon site finalization, the availability of necessary inputs/clearances from the State Government, Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ministry of Coal (for pit-head projects).
