SEMINAR ON OZONE DEPLETING SUBSTANCE

IN DEFENCE SERVICE

          A national seminar on Management of Ozone Depleting Substance in Defence Services was conducted at DRDO Bhawan, here today.  The seminar was conducted under the aegis of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers in association with Confederation on India Industry (CII) and the support of Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO).

          Mr SC Saxena, Director, IIT Roorkee was the Chief Guest for the Seminar.  The seminar was attended by delegates from Defence Services, Civil Industries, Academic Institutes and DRDO.

          During the seminar, renowned speakers shared their view on action plan on phasing out Ozone Depleting Substances in accordance with Montreal Protocol from various applications and suggested alternate substances for these applications.

          Lt Gen AKS Chandele, DGEME during his address brought out the relevance of phasing out ODS and its significance for Defence Forces.  In the end, Maj Gen TM Mhaisale, Commander HQ Technical Group EME in his conducting remark thanked all the delegates for participating the seminar and emphasized on the need for synergy between all concerned agencies to achieve the desired results regarding phasing out ODS.
