Shemaroo releases a unique collection of Live Action Fairy Tale adaptations on DVD

titled ‘Faerie Tale Theatre’

Mumbai 5th Nov 2009: Shemaroo Entertainment releases internationally acclaimed Shelly Duvall’s - ‘Faerie Tale Theatre’ - films which offer an alternative way of viewing some of the best loved, children’s fairy stories.

 Produced by Lions Gate and Gaylord Productions Inc., the 26 fairy tales series is truly unforgettable and was originally broadcast on Doordarshan in the 1980’s. This fantasy drama series was well received at that time and twenty years later still continues to fascinate viewers. 

 These fairy tales feature some of the best known stars in Hollywood, such as Robin Williams, Christopher Reeves, Susan Sarandon, Jeff Bridges, Carrie Fisher, Helen Mirren, Matthew Broderick, Anjelica Huston, Mick Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Joan Collins, Vanessa Redgrave and Jeff Goldblum, all of whom deliver enchanting performances of traditional fairy tales.

This amazing series of high quality classic entertainment is directed by the likes of Tim Burton, Peter Medak, Mark Cullingham, Eric Idle and Francis Ford Coppola.

Shemaroo has released Season 1 of ‘Faerie Tale Theatre’ which is a 4 DVD set and contains 8 fairy tales namely:

 

  • Disc 1: Sleeping Beauty (staring Christopher Reeve (Superman) as the handsome prince.

Little Red Ridding Hood (starring Malcolm McDowell (Dr. Soran, STAR TREK:   Generations), as the hungry wolf

  • Disc 2: Rapunzel: Starring Obadiah Stane (in the 2008 Marvel motion picture, Iron Man) as the handsome prince.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Starring Tatum O’Neal(golden globe award for Paper Moon)

  • Disc 3: Hansel & Gretel: (Ricky Schroder (Star of Television series Silver Spoons) stars as Hansel.

The Nightingale: Rock 'n Roll superstar Mick Jagger (lead vocalist of The Rolling Stones) as the great Emperor

  • Disc 4: Rumplestiltskin: Directed by Fransic Ford Coppola:(director of Godfather)

Jack and the BeanStalk: Dennis Christopher (Guest starred in two Star Trek episodes

 

Season 2 and Season 3 which will have the balance 16 stories will follow.
