Volkswagen Group India witnesses the highest ever October sales
Overall growth of 38 per cent compared to October 2008 / VW Group India Chief Joerg Mueller: “In the right market with the right products at the right time” / Volkswagen Pune Plant ready for the Start of Production of the Polo
Pune / Mumbai, November 19, 2009 – The Volkswagen Group in India has closed the month of October with an impressive achievement. The three brands of the Group – Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen – delivered in total 2,023 vehicles to customers in October 2009 as compared to 1,464 cars sold in October 2008, up by 559 cars, taking the company’s growth to a record of 38.2 percent.
“We are making good progress in developing our market performance. Our current delivery figures are in line of our plan. That proves we are present in the right market with the right products at the right time,” said Mr. Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative as well as President and Managing Director Volkswagen India Private Limited. Currently the three brands of the Group offer in total 15 different models, from the high end luxury sedan to the value-for-money compact car.
Mueller further added, “We will soon be introducing new car models in India like the Volkswagen New Beetle or the Volkswagen Polo to enhance our presence in the market, besides providing technologically advanced cars for Indian customers. At the same time our state-of-the-art-factory in Pune is ready for the start of production of the Polo which will be launched at the AutoExpo 2010 in New Delhi. The Polo’s pedigree is of German engineering and technology, adapted for the domestic market and assembled by Indian skills.“
