Remote Village Electrification Programme
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is implementing Remote Village Electrification Programme for providing financial support for basic facilities of lighting / electrification of those remote unelectrified census villages and unelectrified hamlets of electrified census villages in rural/forest areas in the country where grid extension is either not feasible or not cost effective and which are not taken up under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana for electrification through conventional energy.
Central Financial Assistance of upto 90% of the project costs, subject to pre specified maximum amount for each technology, is provided for approved projects for coverage under the programme.
The funds released during the last three years and the current year are given below:
Year
2006-07 : Rs. 57.14 crore
2007-08 : Rs. 133.04 crore
2008-09 : Rs. 88.81 crore
2009-10(upto 31-10-2009) : Rs. 26.92 crore
