National Solar Mission implementation plan formulated
Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in his Independence Day speech this year, had conveyed the government’s intention to launch the National Solar Mission, which is a part of India ’s National Action Plan on Climate Change, on November 14th, 2009. The recommendations of the Mission have been finalised and an implementation plan has been formulated after a series of consultations both within Government as well as other stake holders outside the government. The Mission will be launched as soon as the approval of the Government to the recommendations has been obtained, which is expected shortly.
The Mission document has already been approved in principle by the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change at its meeting held on Oct 26th 2009. In formulating the recommendations, the various suggestions and comments made by the Council members have been taken into account.
