Envoys of Five Nations Present Credentials to President of India
  
Five envoys presented their credentials to the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The envoys who presented their credentials were: - His Excellency Mr. Julio De La Guardia Arrocha, the Ambassador of Panama, His Excellency Mr. Genaro Vicente Pappalardo Ayala, the Ambassador of Paraguay, His Excellency Mr. Jovan Mirilovic, the Ambassador of Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Thomas Matussek, the Ambassador of Germany and His Excellency, Mr. Gudmundur Eiriksson, the Ambassador of Iceland,

In her interaction with the envoys, the President welcomed them and said India is a growing economy and there are many fields in which it can work with other countries. The President mentioned that terrorism is a global menace and poses a threat to the global stability and security. The international community should come together and speak in one voice and take action. The President also noted that there were many lessons that could be learnt from the financial and economic crisis that had engulfed the world almost a year ago. Some of these were the need to have sound principles of financial governance and making multilateral financial institutions more inclusive to reflect the realities of today.

The credential presentation ceremony was attended by the senior members of the missions, senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
