Lt Gen Anil Chait, was commissioned into Armoured Corps in Dec 73 after passing out from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal during his tenure with the NSG for rendering distinguished service. He has served on operational staff on the Line of Control during Op Parakram. He has held other important appointments in the IHQ(Army).
The Officer commanded an Independent Armoured Brigade, an infantry division and a prestigious corps with distinction on the Western sector. 4th edition of Military World Games were held successfully under his command.
As Commandant, Army War College, he is credited with setting up of Study Centre(s) for domain specialization and transformation of the College into a Centre of Excellence for training leaders has been his steadfast contribution.
He has the proud distinction of attending the US Army War College and being awarded the Medal of Excellence. Lt General Anil Chait takes over as GOC-in-C, Central Command from 01 March 2012.
