Lt Gen K Surendra Nath, General Officer Commanding, Army Aviation Training Command on 18 May 2012 presented 30 officers with Army Aviation Wings on successful completion of their training at Combat Training Aviation School (CATS), Nasik Road.
CATS is a premier training institute of Army Aviation which trains young Army officers to be effective combat helicopter pilots. Established on 01 Sep 2003, this institute has grown into the spearhead of aviation training in the Army and conducts more than ten to twelve varied courses every year.




During eighteen weeks of the course at CATS, the officers are put through rigorous training and are tested progressively in flying and aviation subjects. At the end of their training, officers who stand out to be the best are awarded trophies to acknowledge their achievements. The ‘Silver Cheetah’ which is awarded to the officer who stands first in overall order of merit, was won by Capt Anupam Kaushik.
The ceremony was marked by a fly past by the main stay aircrafts of Army Aviation - the Cheetah, Chetak and ALH helicopters. The spectacular air show display carried out by the Aviators of Army Aviation Base Nasik was the high point of the ceremony.
Lt Gen K Surendra Nath, General Officer Commanding, Army Aviation Training Command told young aviators that their flying skills would always be tested in their career and they should discharge their duty with precision and sincerity.
