STAFF LAYS FOUNDATION AT ARA
Lieutenant
General SK Singh, Vice Chief of the Army Staff visited Danapur Military
Cantonment and Ara in Bihar on the 4th and 5th of May
2012. On 5th May, he visited Ara to lay the foundation for an
Ex-servicemen (ESM) Integrated Multiplex, the first of its kind to be
constructed. The Multiplex envisages housing multiple facilities for ESM in one
modern complex to include a Canteen for ESM, the ESM Welfare Board Office and a
rest house for ESM. Proposals for six such multiplexes, which were mooted by
the Army in 2010, are being funded by the Govt of Bihar at Ara, Chhapra, Munger,
Bhagalpur, Gaya, Motihari at a total outlay of Rs 9 Crores. The construction of
these projects is being undertaken by the Bihar Police Construction Corporation.
ESM Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Medical Polyclinic, will also be
constructed in the vicinity of these multiplexes.
On this
landmark occasion an ESM Rally was held at Ara, which was attended by over 1000
ESM and their kith and kin. During the event a number of veer naris and ESM were
felicitated, medical camps (including a special Diabetes Camp) organised,
special canteens for ESM and a helpline for ESM were established. VCOAS was
accompanied by Vice President, Army Wives’ Welfare Organisation, Mrs Kusum
Singh, Major General J George, Managing Director ECHS at New Delhi and officers
from the Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) and Armed Forces Medical
Services. The above team also visited the Military Hospital at Danapur and
proposed sites for AWHO projects.
