Expeditious Environment Clearances for New Industries
The appraisal of the developmental projects, including setting up of new industries, for environmental clearance is undertaken as per the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006. The steps taken for expediting the environmental clearances inter-alia include :
• Regular meetings of sector specific Expert Appraisal Committees;
• Continuous updating of website covering the agenda and meeting schedule, minutes
of the Expert Appraisal Committees, environmental clearance letters and status of project clearances;
• Finalization of sector specific technical manuals for facilitating preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Reports.
There is no proposal to establish independent administrative and control mechanism as a part of the process.
