Dristinandan reaches out to the needy
DRISTINANDAN CHARITABLE TRUST DISTRIBUTES
BLANKETS AND SOLAR LANTERNS TO THE POOR

Santiniketan, December 11, 2011: Dristinandan Charitable Trust today distributed blankets and solar lanterns to the poor and needy villagers of Borodanga and Hedodanga villages in Bolpur.

Dristinandan, a registered (NGO) has taken an initiative to reach out to the needy villagers whose lives are surrounded by darkness, and distributed solar lanterns and blankets to combat extreme cold waves of Birbhum






The noble initiative was supported and praised by dignitaries like Hon’ble Minister, Rural Development, Mr Chandranath Sinha, Panchayat Upo-pradhan & other dignatoris of the place. Mr Sinha was highly enthusiastic about this event and praised Dristinandan Charitable Trust for there nobel act. ‘I am confident this NGO will definitely lend there hand towards the backward & tribal class of the society- added Mr Sinha.

Trustee of Dristinandan Charitable Trust, Shri Manab Chaudhuri, said “Dristinandan Charitable Trust is engaged in social welfare and cultural activities and development of rural Bengal with a special emphasis on Birbhum and surrounding region. We have previously worked to create cultural awareness projects and have recently started to focus on poverty alleviating projects,” said Mr Chaudhuri.

“We felt that besides conserving and promoting our culture and heritage we first needed to fulfill the basic necessities of life for the people of India. Today's program in one such humble step towards supporting the needy villagers especially the children and the elderly whose life remain at risk during winter due to cold,” he said.

Dristinandan has started its initiative from Bolpur (Santiniketan) and would expand its activity to other parts of West Bengal.“We are planning to provide a wide array of services in healthcare, educational institutions, orphanage, old age homes, etc., catering mainly to the villagers and adivasis,” said Mr Chaudhuri.

Dristinandan would also reach out to donor groups to fund social welfare projects and engage in philanthrophy. Donations to Dristinandan Charitable Trust is now tax-exempted.
