The Weekly Coal Production Report has been updated for the week ended
November 05,2011 and month ended October 2011.
For the week ended November 05:
• U.S. coal production totaled approximately 21.3 million short tons (mmst)
• This production estimate is 1.5 percent lower than last week's estimate and
1.8 percent higher than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2010
• Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 8.6 mmst
• Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 12.7 mmst
For the month ended October 2011:
• U.S. coal production totaled approximately 92.8 million short tons (mmst)
• This production estimate is 1.0 percent higher than the estimate for october 2010
• Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 36.3 mmst
• Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 56.5 mmst
