8th Annual Meeting of World Diamond Council
to take place in Vicenza, Italy, May 13-14, 2012

NEW YORK: NOVEMBER 16, 2011 - The World Diamond Council has announced that its 8th Annual Meeting will take place May 13-14, 2012, in the northern Italian jewelry center of Vicenza. Hosting the event will be Fiera di Vicenza, one of Italy's leading trade fair operators.

"With the agreement on Marange at the Kimberley Process Plenary Meeting in Kinshasa last month, the way is now open to tackle some of the other pressing matters on the agenda," said Eli Izhakoff, WDC President. "These will be discussed at length at our Annual Meeting, including the issue of reforming the KP structure, of which the WDC has been a keen proponent. We are most grateful to Fiera di Vicenza for its gracious offer to host the event, and for enabling us to defend the integrity and reputation of the diamond and our industry."

"We are most excited at the prospect of being able to welcome the leadership of the diamond and jewelry industries to Vicenza, which is a city that for centuries has supported and been supported by the jewelry business," said Dr. Roberto Ditri, President of Fiera di Vicenza. "We are also most proud to lend our support to an organization which is dedicated to promoting the ethical and sustainable trade in diamonds and jewelry."
This is the third time that a WDC Annual Meeting is being held in Italy.
