Royalty on Minerals

The Minister of Mines and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Shri B.K. Handique has said that the Central Government constituted a Study Group for revision of rates of royalty and dead rent in respect of minerals (other than minor mineral, coal, lignite and sand for stowing), which includes various stakeholders i.e. State Governments, concerned Ministries/Departments of Central Government and Industry.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today he said based on the recommendations of Study Group, Government has revised rates of royalty of minerals (other than minor mineral, coal, lignite and sand for stowing) and dead rent vide Official Gazette Notification No. G. S. R. 574(E) dated 13.8.2009 and G.S.R. 575(E) dated 13.8.2009, respectively. The report of Study Group and revised rates of royalty of minerals, including Coal, are available on website of Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal.
