ISS ANNOUNCES NEW WINS ACROSS THE BOARD

LONDON - 2 October 2009 Inchcape Shipping Services has announced new contracts across the spectrum of its business activities. Commenting on these wins ISS CEO Capt. Claus Hyldager said: “Underpinning the value proposition across our range of products and services is the value of outsourcing non-core processes and the direct and indirect cost savings attached to this process optimisation. The current climate in world shipping is driving an interest across all sectors resulting in a number of key wins on a strategic partnership approach where ISS is truly adding value to the principal’s own business.”

LINER HUSBANDRY SEES GLOBAL GROWTH

Recently Maersk Line has appointed ISS as its husbandry agent in Australia, Bulgaria and Greece. In Australia the agreement formerly covered Sydney only, but thanks to superior service levels from ISS the agreement has been extended to give national coverage.

ISS is now sole husbandry agent for Maersk Line in the region covering both New Zealand and Australia whilst the appointment for Bulgaria and Greece is also for full nationwide coverage. ISS is already Maersk Line’s agent in Djibouti, Iraq and Belgium.

Jon Corner, ISS Executive Vice President, Group Commercial, explained: “In the current difficult climate for container line operators, the outsourcing of vessel husbandry is a relatively straightforward initiative but which realises a strong value in terms of direct and indirect cost savings through optimised processes.”

Furthermore, one of Asia’s leading container carriers, amongst the global top ten, has also awarded the care of its vessel husbandry to ISS with a geographical scope covering 15 ports across Europe in, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the UK; seven ports in the USA, three in Canada, five in Australia and five in New Zealand. ISS has handled the carrier’s husbandry in Belgium, Australia and New Zealand for a number of years and the extension of the agreement reflects the principal’s stated satisfaction with ISS service levels.

WESTERN GECO TURNS TO ISS

In the US ISS has been contracted by Western Geco to support their seismographic offshore operations. Western Geco relies on a timely and precise service to coordinate its crew, equipment and vessels, so turned to ISS for assistance. The service requirements span the US Gulf Coast from Brownsville, TX in the southwest to Mobile, AL in the east. “With its 24 hour operations it is imperative that all personnel involved have a firm hand on the schedule as well as thorough knowledge of the operation,” said Lars Westerberg, ISS Senior Vice President - North & Central America. “And ISS has a dedicated unit based in New Orleans and Houston to cover this specialized type of operation.”

IGC chooses ISS for global hub agency

And International Gas Carriers, the recently formed LPG tanker pool comprising 19 tankers ranging in size between 53,000 to 82,000 cu metres owned by Solvang ASA of Stavanger and Neu Gas Shipping Corp., has signed a full-agency global hub agreement with ISS effective 1 June 2009. Services provided cover full port agency supported by operational and financial hub agency services to the IGC fleet. Commenting, ISS Vice President Global Services – Sales, Peter Andersen said: “Our outsourcing services offer significant benefits to shipping pools in helping to streamline the operational and financial aspects of the port call, and the service is underpinned by the ISS global network of 244+ port offices.”

Crew Logistics business flourishes

ISS has also won four new Crew Logistics contracts recently in different parts of the world. From Denmark and Greece to the Bahamas and the United Arab Emirates owners have entrusted their crews’ logistical needs to ISS. “This segment has grown exponentially as the maritime industry finds our service offering simple to implement and transparent,” said ISS Vice President Commercial - Vessel Supply Chain, Capt. Narayanan Shankar. “While growth in 2008 was due to process efficiency of the product, in 2009 it has been driven by the tangible and intangible cost efficiencies it offers our customers. With the geographical footprint now extending across the globe and new contracts being finalized, ISS expects this segment to treble over the next three years.”
