August 2009/Record space
Record exhibition space for the fully booked bauma 2010
- More exhibition space to be provided
- New record for exhibition space, at 555,000 square metres
- New entrance at northwest
- Further improvements to visitor flow between the north and south
open-air sites
In terms of exhibition space, bauma is the biggest trade fair in the world. And for the next event in April 2010, this international showcase for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment is getting even bigger. In response to an excellent level of bookings from exhibitors, Messe München is planning to erect additional, temporary halls for bauma 2010. This will bring the total exhibition space for the fair to 555,000 square metres.
More space for 'Formworks and Scaffolding' and 'Construction Equipment and Tools'
By deciding to set up these temporary halls, Messe München will be able to offer additional exhibition space to the product sections on 'Formworks and Scaffolding' and 'Construction Equipment and Tools' – both of these being in particularly high demand from exhibitors. Also this additional space means that bauma 2010 will again be expanding its offer - and will beat the previous record for space, held by bauma 2007, which took up 540,000 square metres of exhibition space. "This development shows that in a tough economic climate bauma remains a milestone in the trade fair calendar of the sector, and that this sector is determined to demonstrate its innovative capabilities at the world´s leading trade fair. Messe München,as the organiser of bauma, will do everything possible to create the best conditions and provide the same high level of service for that event," said Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the Management Board of Messe München.
New entrance in the northwest and improved visitor flow between the north and south open-air sites
Currently improvements are under way to the entrance situation on the northwest of the site, by building an entrance and registration building between the multi-storey car park on the northwest corner and Hall C1. For the first time, therefore, this will provide an additional, seventh entrance in time for bauma 2010, and that should help alleviate pressure on the very busy West Entrance.
Another area in which improvements are being made is to visitor flow between the open-air sites to the north and south of Paul-Henri-Spaak-Strasse. It has been decided to close this road to traffic during the exhibition to make it even easier for visitors to pass between the two areas. In addition the earth banks which used to be in place along this road have now been levelled, to provide a better visual link between these two parts of the site.
bauma 2010 takes place from 19 to 25 April 2010 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.
bauma
The latest products from the international construction, building-materials and mining machinery sectors will be on show at bauma in Munich between 19 and 24 April 2010. This event will take up over 540,000 square metres (gross) of indoor and outdoor exhibition space at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. In 2007 3,002 exhibitors from 49 countries used bauma and Mining, the world´s biggest trade fair for the sector, as an innovations and marketing platform. bauma 2007 broke a number of records: visitor numbers increased 20 percent to over 500,000 trade visitors from 191 different countries. Around 155,000 of these visitors travelled to Munich from outside Germany. For further information on bauma, go to: www.bauma.de
