U.S. Auto Trade Mission Visits Russia for Partnerships
Washington - A U.S. Commerce Department official arrived in Moscow April 23
with a delegation of 13 U.S. companies seeking opportunities to support Russia's
growing automotive parts sector.
"Our trade mission participants have the opportunity to explore Russia's
rapidly expanding car and truck assembly market and be introduced to a diverse
cross section of companies selling goods and services into the automotive
sector," Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Michelle
O'Neill said. "Russian companies seeking U.S. business partners and suppliers
appreciate American brand-name value and U.S. companies' reputation for quality,
performance and after-sales service."
Moscow is the first stop on a trade mission that continues to Samara and
St. Petersburg.
"This mission enables U.S. companies to meet with public and private-sector
officials to explore potential partnerships that will mutually benefit both our
economies," O'Neill said.
The trade delegation will participate in one-on-one meetings with potential
business partners, engage in discussions with Russian government officials, and
visit automotive assembly plants and component manufacturers in Russia's
automotive industry centers.
O'Neill launched the mission by presenting Triton-Import, a Moscow-based
automotive parts distributor, with the Commerce Department's Certificate of
Appreciation for Achievement in Trade. Triton-Import has helped U.S. companies
export more than $50 million in automotive spare parts to the Russian market.
"Triton-Import has been an important partner and friend to many U.S. small and
medium-sized firms," O'Neill said.
