TMK Ships Large Diameter Pipe for South Iolotan Field in Turkmenistan
TMK, one of the world’s leading producers of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, ships longitudinally welded large diameter pipe (LDP) for use in transporting natural gas from Turkmenistan’s largest gas field, the South Iolotan field.
To meet the customer’s requirements, TMK has developed pipe with special characteristics, in particular more rigorous geometrical parameters and an increased level of corrosion-resistant coating.
As part of the large order placed for TMK's longitudinally welded LDP, 12,000 tonnes of pipe have already been shipped.
The South Iolotan field, discovered in 2006, is the largest in Turkmenistan and the second largest in the world following the Pars gas field shared by Iran and Qatar. With a territory stretching roughly 3,000 square kilometers, the South Iolotan field’s natural gas reserves total approximately 21 trillion cubic meters. The field is being developed by Turkmengaz, Turkmenistan’s state-owned natural gas company, together with China’s CNPC.
