CBI raids NCL at multiple locations - Rajib Maitra, Breaking News!

According to sources, CBI grilled mainly three top officials of NCL including CMD Vinay Kumar Singh and his personal Secretary Mr. Nayar. Other two officers grilled were the Deputy General Manager of Amlori Coal Mining Project and the General Manager of Jayant Coal Mining Project of NCL.

CBI officers have also interrogated  Mr. Akhilesh Agarwal, one of the promoter of M/S Valcon. It is alleged that M/S Valcon was manufacturing and supplying  duplicate spare parts of various reputed Heavy Earth Moving Machinery Manufacturers, and for quite a few years. Close sources said to CSC that the CBI found some illicit link between Akhilesh Agarwal and the CMD NCL. This raid comes at a time when NCL is already reeling under allegations of irregularity in the case of procuring a Dragline from an US based company.

It is also interesting to note that on 22nd October, 2011, when investigating officers raided NCL Head Quarters , the Chairman of Coal India Mr. N. C. Jha was present there, though according to those in the know, he was not questioned and was asked to leave for the head quarters.

Incidentally, NCL is the most profitable subsidiary of Coal India with most of its coal linked to NTPC.

... but the most funny thing is CBI sleuth raided NCL... though CIL has own 'powerful' vigilance department. So what they were doing?
