Railways Revenue Earnings up by 10.22 Per Cent During April- November 2011

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April – 30th November 2011 were Rs. 66126.39 crore compared to Rs. 59994.24 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.22 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 39855.04 crore during 1st April – 30th November 2010 to Rs. 43888.10 crore during 1st April – 30th November 2011, registering an increase of 10.12 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during first eight months of the financial year 2011-12 were Rs. 18742.53 crore compared to Rs. 17089.39 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.67 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 1860.46 crore during April- November 2011 compared to Rs. 1668.15 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 11.53 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April- November 2011 were 5518.68 million compared to 5243.97 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.24 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April- November 2011 were 2777.81 million and 2740.87 million compared to 2675.21 million and 2568.76 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.84 per cent and 6.70 per cent respectively.
