IFGL to introduce Calcium Phosphate Cement (CPC)
and Bioactive Ceramic Composite Granules
for dental and orthopaedic applications

Kolkata, 11th May,2011 : IFGL has entered into License Agreements with  Sree Chitra Tirunal  Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, (SCTIMST) an institute of national importance under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India for know-how for manufacture of Calcium Phosphate Cement (CPC) and Bioactive Ceramic Composite Granules for dental and orthopaedic applications. These Bio-compatible and clinically evaluated products are suitable for various clinical applications in dental and orthopaedic areas. CPC is a self-setting material and can be injected directly to the site of bone defect. Polymer based cement is currently used for orthopaedic procedure, which have limited bio-compatibility and do not integrate with bone, generate heat during setting and are not resorbable in vivo. CPC does not have these problem.

IFGL already has License Agreements with SCTIMST for manufacture of Synthetic Bone Graft Granules and Blocks, available in the market under trade names ‘BioGraft HANew  and BioGraft HABG Active’, for dental segment particularly for use by Periodontists, Implantologists and  Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, IFGL also manufacture following Products  under Know-how Agreements  with  Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute at Kolkata, a constituent laboratory of Indian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research for dental, orthopaedic and opthamology segments.

·         BioGraft – Synthetic Bone Graft Granules and Blocks
·         CeraEye - Synthetic Hydroxyapatite Orbital Implant
·         CeraHip – Alumina Ceramic Femoral Head
·         Bioactive plasma Coatings for implants

These clinically proven and moderately priced Bio Ceramic Products are already being used at several speciality hospitals in India and abroad.
