Railway Revenue Earnings up by 10.74 Per Cent During April 2011



The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during April 2011 were Rs. 8080.55 crore compared to Rs. 7296.69 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.74 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 4950.64 crore during April 2010 to Rs. 5565.53 crore during April 2011, showing an increase of 12.42 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings in April 2011 were Rs. 2213.05 crore compared to Rs. 2066.46 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.09 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 223.07 crore during April 2011 compared to Rs. 201.92 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 10.47 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during April 2011 were 657.75 million compared to 624.54 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.32 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April 2011 were 333.12 million and 324.63 million compared to 319.68 million and 304.86 million during the same period last year, an increase of 4.20 per cent and 6.48 per cent respectively.
