Rio Tinto puts the spotlight on sustainable jewelry
New York, NY, May 16, 2010 - Rio Tinto is delighted to announce it will be a key participant in this year’s Jewelers Circular Keystone (JCK) trade fair at Las Vegas. The trade fair, including the exclusive JCK LUXURY program will be held from May 31 through to June 6, and is a key opportunity for Rio Tinto to support its Select Diamantaires and engage in important industry dialogue.
Rio Tinto will, for the first time, host a booth at the prestigious trade fair as well as participate in a number of educational programs. In particular Rio Tinto will focus on the value of sustainability, not only for today's diamond retailers, but for producers, designers and wholesalers who also are embracing this shifting jewelry paradigm.
According to Yancy Weinrich, JCK’s Industry Vice President, “We are delighted that Rio Tinto will be highlighting these issues at the JCK forum. Increasingly the consumer wants to know that their jewelry has been produced with integrity and we have an obligation as custodians of the industry to discuss these matters.”
Rio Tinto will also share new trade and consumer research results and engage participants in a panel discussion with jewelry industry experts on these issues. Rio Tinto is a founding member of the Responsible Jewelry Council and has been at the vanguard of reform to build better practices throughout the jewelry supply chain.
