BESU signs Research and Development MoU with INSDAG;
to work on Steel Research Centre in West Bengal
Kolkata, January 4, 2011: The Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), Shibpur today signed a MoU with the Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG), to promote scientific research and leverage the strengths of the industry-academia resource pool. INSDAG is a non-profit making body established by the ministry of steel, government of India and leading steel producers of the country.
Dr (Prof.) Ajay Kumar Ray, Vice Chancellor of BESU and Mr Sushim Banerjee, director-general of INSDAG signed the MoU on behalf of the two premier institutions of West Bengal. BESU becomes a member of INSDAG with immediate effect.
The MoU, among other things, provides that INSDAG will work on several assignments related to the new construction projects coming up in BESU premises.
The highlights of the MoU, according to Mr Banerjee, is conceptualization and implementation of a proposed Steel Research Centre with steel intensive construction with an innovative architectural design.
The two institutions have decided to jointly undertake research projects in structural and metallurgical engineering. In addition, both the parties will jointly organize seminars/conferences at national/international levels, organize training programmes besides exchange of faculties to deliver lectures on steel and engineering.
