Home Minister Requests West Bengal Chief Minister to take action against Armed Cadres
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee called on the Union Home Minister, Shri P Chidambaram here today.
The Home Minister restated the Government of India’s position that maintenance of law and order is the responsibility of the security forces and that the armed cadres of any political party cannot be allowed to play any part in the discharge of this responsibility. The Home Minister shared with the Chief Minister information and intelligence available with the Central Government. He also drew pointed attention to the grave incident in Netai village. The Home Minister requested the Chief Minister to take action against the armed cadres.
The Chief Minister assured the Home Minister that he understood the seriousness of the concern expressed by the Home Minister and would take appropriate steps.
