Boral appoints Mike Kane as President of Boral’s USA Division

The Chief Executive of Boral Limited, Mr Mark Selway, today announced that Mike Kane has been appointed as President of Boral USA to replace Emery Severin. Emery, who joined Boral in 1996 and has been the President of Boral’s USA Division since August 2004, will return to Australia and leave Boral at the end of February 2010.

Mike, who will join Boral from Calstar Products where he has been the Chief Executive Officer, has extensive experience in the building and construction industry including 18 years in senior
executive roles with US Gypsum, Hanson Building Materials, Johns Manville Corp and Holcim.
Mike holds a Law degree. Mr Selway said: “I would like to thank Emery for his contribution and leadership over the past fourteen years. Emery has made a significant contribution to Boral, particularly in the construction materials operations in Australia and managing the US business through the most difficult period in Boral’s history. 

“I am very pleased to welcome Mike to Boral’s senior management team. Mike has a deep
knowledge of the US building and construction materials industry and he is very well placed to lead Boral’s US businesses as they recover from the current economic downturn. While the recovery in the US is likely to be slow, Boral has great market positions and will capitalise on the opportunities to grow our position and increase our competitiveness. Mike’s proven track record in general and operational management, as well as managing new technology and growth projects will be particularly helpful as the business moves into its next phase”, said Mr Selway.
