Corus loses top executive
Scott MacDonald, one of Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus's top executives, has resigned from the company. The resignation is effective at the end of January, a Corus spokesperson tells Steel Business Briefing.
He was executive director in charge of the distribution & building systems division, and a member of the company's executive committee which is responsible for day-to-day management. He has also looked after commercial policy and purchasing during his period with the company.
MacDonald has been with Corus, now part of India’s Tata Steel Group, for over six years. He worked for its predecessor British Steel between 1978 and 1989 and went on to a series of high-ranking roles at German steel distribution group Klöckner & Co, finally as chief operating officer, before joining Corus in September 2003.
SBB understands MacDonald’s departure from Corus was his own decision. It is thought MacDonald “felt a need for change,” but is not immediately taking up a post elsewhere.
Corus has not yet named a replacement.
