Railway revenue earnings up by 10.53 per cent during the period 1st – 10th December 2009
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th December 2009 were Rs. 2306.07 crore compared to Rs. 2086.43 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.53 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1412.52 crore during the period from 1st to 10th December 2008 to Rs. 1586.93 crore during 1st December – 10th December 2009, showing an increase of 12.35 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th December 2009 were Rs. 644.32 crore compared to Rs. 600.77 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 7.25 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 59.82 crore during this period compared to Rs. 55.93 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.96 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th December, 2009 were 226.10 million compared to 202.87 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 11.45 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 1st to 10th December, 2009 were 123.89 million and 102.21 million compared to 111.76 million and 91.11 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.85 per cent and 12.18 per cent respectively.
